In the context of the MWP 2016, Alcatel renews their range of reversible smartphones Idol. The POP collection, aimed at the younger, also hosts a new generation of Alcatel smartphone
Present at the MWC 2016, the Chinese Alcatel announced the disappearance of their OneTouch Brand, now melted in the rest of their activities. Furthermore, the firm unveiled a lot of products including the new generation of smartphones Idol and pop.
Released in 2015, the Idol 3 was pointed out by a good quality/price ratio and an original reversible design. Unsurprisingly, Alcatel has decided to renew this range with the Idol 4, accompanied by a palette variation called Idol 4 S.
Idol 4 and Idol 4 S, reversible smartphones
Just like the Idol 3, these two devices are equipped with loudspeakers and microphones on top and bottom of the front parts. In this way, it is possible to make calls while holding in both directions. For this new edition, the speakers receive also outputs to the front and rear. Calls can be made taking the smartphone upside down.
In order to actually focus on these atypical speakers, Alcatel appealed to JBL and Waves firms supplying hardware and software. This partnership allows providing a multimedia stereo sound of excellent quality, with a maximum power of 3.6 watts.
Idol 4, 4.7-inch Full HD and Snapdragon 617
For the rest, the Idol 4 is a 4.7-inch definition Full HD smartphone. Their Snapdragon 617 processor is coupled to 2 or 3 GB of RAM while the storage space amounts to 16 GB expandable through MicroSD. The dorsal camera offers 13MP. The battery offers 2610 mAh capacity.
Idol 4 S, 5.5-inch QHD and Snapdragon 652
The Idol s 4 is distinguished by Their screen 5.5-inch QHD, processor Snapdragon 652, The 3 GB of RAM, Their picture 16MP, 3000 mAh battery and 32 GB of storage space. Both versions feature a front webcam 8MP and running Android Marshmallow.
Packaging as a virtual reality helmet
These two smartphones will be available in four colors Soft Gold, Dark Grey, Rose Gold and Metallic Silver. Furthermore, the packaging of the Idol 4 S may directly back to serve as a virtual reality helmet type Google Cardboard. It is unclear at the moment the price and the release date of these two smartphones.
POP 4, the middle range by Alcatel
In order to invest the middle range, Alcatel also renewed Their POP range with a fourth generation. So are POP 4, POP 4 + and POP 4 S.
POP 4 and POP 4 Plus are very similar, mainly differentiated by the size of the screen. The first measures 5 inches, while the second is a phablet 5.5 inches. In both cases, we find a definition 1280 × 720 pixels, a quad-core MSM8909 processor clocked at 1.1 GHz, two 8MP cameras and 5MP, a 2500 mAh battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The RAM is 1 GB for the POP 4 and 1, 5 GB for POP 4 +. Meanwhile, storage space is 8 GB for the first and 16 GB for the second, expandable through MicroSD every time.
The 4S POP features slightly higher. The IPS 5.5 inch screen boasts a definition Full HD 1920 × 1080 and houses a quad-core MT6755M 1.8 GHz processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The back camera is a 13MP against 5MP at the front. Storage space remains to 16 GB expandable through MicroSD. The battery has a capacity of 2960 mAh. All runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The release date and the price of these three smartphones were not revealed.
