Data Scientists’ Paradise: Revealing The Top 50 Employers Of 2023

AIM Research looked at best practices used by top-performing companies under criteria to find the 50 Best Companies For Data Scientists to Work For.

This is the fifth annual ranking of the ‘top companies for data scientists to work for’ created by Analytics India Magazine (AIM).

The study does give companies based on how well their policies are suited to their employees.

Last year, AIM boosted its focus by reaching out to a broader variety of companies with data science teams.

In continuation of the project, we questioned hundreds of Indian companies to see how they created a top-notch work environment for data scientists.

2022 | 2021 for the previous year’s status

I created a general ranking to find AIM’s best companies for data scientists to work with.

AIM used five factors to rate 50 companies: Learning & Support, Productivity & Engagement, Benefits & Well-being, Rewarding Excellence, and Diversity & Inclusion.

The overall index was created by combining the scores of five sub-indices (based on the previously mentioned characteristics).

The sub-indices were generated using the scores given to the answers (of the survey questions) given to AIM.

Before calculating the average for the sub-indices, these scores were adjusted on a scale of 0 to 1.

AIM Research chose best practices adopted by top-performing businesses under each sub-index based on answers from participating companies.

The best practices for each sub-index are discussed in their respective sections.

There was no price for taking part in the survey, and it was completely a choice.

The findings of the analysis are discussed below, along with the top-ranking companies across the several sub-indices and the overall index.

We highlight the many policies or efforts that these companies followed that won them a spot in the top 50.

Trends to Pay Attention to

Increased Focus on Learning Platforms

100% of top-performing companies currently provide employees with access to learning tools.

Given this and the quick speed of technical change, we could see an increasing trend, with more companies focusing on risks for continuous education and growth for their data scientists.

Investment in Cutting-Edge Technology

57% of top performers are now investing in cutting-edge technology such as high-performance GPUs.

As data science grows more complicated and compute-intensive, we will see an increase in the number of companies investing in advanced infrastructure to support their data scientists.

Increasing Diversity and Inclusion

According to the research, 35% of women in senior leadership roles in top-performing companies and 51% of women in data science teams.

As diversity and inclusion stay the top goals, these numbers are expected to rise in the future years, promoting more varied and inclusive workplaces.

Peer-to-Peer Recognition

At the moment, 40% of the best performers have peer-to-peer recognition programs in place.

We could see an increase in companies bringing similar recognition tasks as companies try to build a healthy work culture and employee engagement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration is Promoted

Currently, 40% of top performers support cross-functional collaboration.

This is projected to increase as more businesses recognize the benefits of multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation potential.

2023 Rankings

All of the companies who responded adopted workplace policies or launched efforts to create a positive work environment and give all of the resources needed for data scientists to be happy and successful in their roles.

Some companies survived better than others.
